This isn't any earth shattering news, but we are doing away with the old titles of Newbie, Groupie, etc. The new levels are:

Red 0 - 39 posts
Orange 40 - 99 posts
Yellow 100 - 499 posts
Green 500 - 1999 posts
Purple 2000+

And advertisers have all be set to "Blue"

Brock I think that is such a retrograde step. The new "colours" are totally meaningless, if your going to do away with the old "characters" for some politically correct reason (or because some of the mega stars don't want to be Newbies) then drop the pretence of levels altogether and just leave the number of posts. This forum is in danger of losing all it's quirky character and become just like the others.

it's all about branding eh Brock

Hey, shouldn't the 0-39 posters be green

I know your not looking for any suggestions here, just thought green would be appropriate

I was looking forward to the day that I become a "Grizzled Veteran". Now, I'll just be "purple" nathan c39037.4924652778

I agree with the rest... the colors are meaningless compared with the old titles which had a more meaningfull "substance".
Not too crazy about going from grizzled veteran to GREEN!!
Not a big deal just a personal choice.

I also thought about using power ranger colors, or the colors from the characters in reservoir dogs... but in the end just decided to go with a simple color scheme.

Yes what's the reason for this?

I know that this is your's and Lance's sandpit and we play under your rules, but isn't this the sort of thing that it would have been nice to ask the forum members opinions about first? Although you provide the facility, the members 'are' the forum.

Question are you going to post a ledger so that visitors will know the the value of the color. I know that just because one of us is a Grizzled vet right now does not mean they are the most knowledgeable. But I do know that the two clients that have come to me via this forum have told me that they appraised info they received from this forum somewhat based on the ranking of the poster. Just something to consider.

We all just got through a big squabble a few days back, so I really don't want to make this into a big deal... but people could not get over the fact that the levels had nothing to do with a members prowess as a luthier and insisted on trying to infer that we have relative beginners with the status of "Grizzled Veteran" etc.

.. frankly I was just sick of hearing about it.

This way everyone is on equal footing with respect to skill yet we still can determine who are our long standing members and who are our newer members.

Brock
The colors remind me of kindergarden.
I would rather see the levels dropped, the number
of posts is enough. If we must have levels.
How about:
Pewter
Bronze
Silver
Gold
Platinum
And Copper for the advertisers.
Just a suggestion, but Please! reconsider this.

Tom

You know what happened to the last fellow who called me Yellow?

I beat him by 50 yards. (That's meters for some of you all)

Or we could just drop designations, (and the star system) altogether. Number of posts merely denotes ones number of posts and nothing more.

Author:  Rod True [ Thu Nov 16, 2006 4:51 am ]
Post subject:

Or you could just leave them blank and let the stars to speak for themselves.

No title is a good title.
